Join us for the 2023 Livonia Passport to Safety!

Hosted by the Livonia Police Department and sponsored by Bill Brown Ford Cares, the annual Passport to Safety event is a great time for kids and adults alike!

Bill Brown Ford Cares Supports Michigan’s Largest Child Safety Event

Every year, Livonia, Michigan, becomes the epicenter for the nation’s most extensive child health and safety gathering – Passport to Safety. On June 10, 2023, between 10 am and 2 pm, Michigan families with children aged toddler to 13 years are warmly invited to partake in a day brimming with educational activities and interactive safety demonstrations at the Livonia Police and Fire Stations on Farmington Road, South of Five Mile. This grand event, co-founded by Livonia Police/Fire Departments and Cheryl Bowker, a Livonia-based Allstate Insurance Agency owner, sees notable Michigan non-profit support, including Bill Brown Ford Cares. They’ve been a proud sponsor since 2016, furthering their commitment as a company that gives back to the community. Let’s delve into what the event entails and the unique contribution from Bill Brown Ford Cares.

In-depth Look at Child Safety

Passport to Safety takes a comprehensive approach to child safety, addressing various modern challenges from cyber threats and social media dangers to physical safety concerns such as water hazards, biking risks, and home safety. It’s a powerful initiative equipping children and their families with essential safety knowledge and resources.

Interactive Stations and Demonstrations

Children will have the opportunity to visit ten stations addressing vital topics such as first aid, choking and poisons, fire safety, water safety, and 911 training. The event will also host fascinating demonstrations by the K-9 Policing Unit and Jaws of Life, highlighting the significant work of these specialized units. For added enjoyment, live entertainment by the Rock Out Fit Crew will accompany each passport station demonstration.

Hands-on Safety Equipment Interaction

Passport to Safety allows children hands-on experiences with safety equipment and resources. The Coast Guard and DTE will provide equipment, educating kids about their roles in maintaining safety. New to the event this year, Coastie, the Coast Guard’s mascot, will be in attendance, adding an extra layer of fun.

One notable introduction at the 2023 event is Cooper, the Livonia Police Department’s therapy dog. Children will have the opportunity to interact with this trained therapy dog, enhancing their overall event experience. Also returning this year is the popular Wayne County Mounted Sheriff’s Unit with their horses.

Bill Brown Ford Cares Booth Focuses on Car Safety

Dedicated to promoting car seat safety, the Bill Brown Ford Cares booth at Passport to Safety will be a significant hub of education for parents and guardians. Expert Livonia Firefighters will guide participants through the correct car seat setup. To further engage children, a fun, car-seat-themed craft activity will be on offer.

With the summer season in full swing, the booth will also emphasize the importance of monitoring vehicle temperatures, alerting parents to the dangers of leaving children alone in hot cars. Using real vehicles for demonstration, we aim to show the temperature difference between car interiors and exteriors. This is part of our commitment to prioritize child safety at all times.

To add to the enjoyment, children will receive goodie bags at our booth (while supplies last), including items like mini hand sanitizers, reusable water bottles, and mini inflatable beach balls.

Additionally, Bill Brown Ford Cares will generously donate FOUR Detroit Tigers tickets for the event raffle. Make sure to visit our booth and attend the event for a chance to win!
